On Linux? What's your setup?

So I am pretty new to linux but am liking it pretty well. My main problem has been using the adobe software suite.

Here is where I am moving to.

Linux Ubuntu: running Eclipse with CFEclipse and Aptana plugins.

Windows XP via Virtualbox: running Dreamweaver et al, MS SQL Studio any other windows specific tools.

(Virtualbox is nice because you can create "shared folders" so the actual source files are in one place)

Anyone else come up with any brilliant setups to get the job done on linux. I could not find anything native to linux that rivals dreamweaver.

erm....cfeclipse plugged into eclipse is what you want. I left dreamweaver behind a while ago and never looked back. also...cfeclipse runs natively on linux as it does on windows and mac also....and the clincher....its free!

you'll still need virtualisation for your ms SQL though

I am running cfeclipse.

but at work we have to connect to our development servers via webDAV over https:// which I cannot do via eclipse on Windows (for now I am stuck with windows at work).

I still use dreamweaver for visual design and file management. most of my coding and all my cfc development is via eclipse.

I just made the switch myself to Linux.

Ubuntu 7.10:
Eclipse w/ FB3, CFEclipse

Windows XP Pro (VMWare):
For the CS3 products

Also, VMWare allows you to setup shared folders between the VM and the host system.

yeah. that is my setup almost exactly except I am using Virtualbox which works quite well so far. Also makes sharing folders really easy. I have a W:\ drive in windows with all my cf projects and a M:\ drive with all my music.

My only gripe with Linux is I have the black window bug if I have too many windows open. seems to be a little better once i stopped using DW via wine and installed Gutsy G. but its still there on occasion.

I also use Ubuntu, Eclipse with CFEclipse, MYEclipse, Aptana, XMLBuddy, and Mylyn. I have ColdFusion 8 deployed on JBoss and I'm also running Apache 2.2.4. I too run VirtualBox, I have found that it seems to run a little faster than VMWare, plus it's opensource!
