Just wondering if any work is being done on this project. As a RoR enthusiast and a dedicated CF programmer, I would like to see this project continue.. anyone else or just me?
I offered to help Per with documentation, but unfortunately I haven't put aside as much time as I'd like to. I think I need to set a goal! We definitely need an online resource that makes learning easier.
Anyway, I am developing a major e-commerce system on top of CF Wheels, so at least I'm using it...
Ok, again - is this project still active? I have been researching CF frameworks for 3 months for business use - CF on Wheels is by far most attractive/promising. Others have more history / higher confidence in future existence/community support. Would love to hear CF on Wheels is gaining momentum/support. - Bill
The project is still active. We released version 0.9.1 on Monday and are working on getting to 0.9.2. Soon enough, we will have a feature freeze and work on releasing 1.0. It will more than likely happen sometime this year.
You're right that the other frameworks have been around longer and thus have bigger followings. I can answer that we're continuing to see momentum with Wheels and expect it to get much better when we get out of beta status.
If you like the idea of getting CFML apps up and running in a rapid and pragmatic way, then I recommend downloading Wheels and giving it a try. The other frameworks can get more "academic" and complex, but maybe you'll like one of those better.
What advice I can offer is that learning Wheels concepts will prepare you to work with other MVC frameworks like Fusebox if you decide to go with one of those instead. So it wouldn't be time lost if you don't love it.
Chris, thanks for that feedback/advice and it's good news that things are moving forward. Will do on downloading wheels and giving it a try - looks terrific from the documentation so far. Best wishes as it moves forward.
Thanks Bill. The Wheels Google Group is the best place to go if you have questions about the framework. I have a "Who are you? What are you working on?" post in there that you should answer as well!
There are a communication issues between three technologies together Flex, CF, and .Net. The issue is around null values and how each technology treating it.
